title = {The impact of various factors on the desire of Iranian families to have children with a special focus on the recommendations of the Quran and Hadith: A review article},
abstract ={Background and aim: The subject of population and attention to the family foundation is necessary and essential for the survival of any country and civilization. Many studies have been sporadically conducted on the reasons for the decrease in the desire of families to have children. In Iranian society, as an Islamic society and the high significance of having children in the holy religion of Islam, further studies are necessary for more comprehensive look at the importance of spirituality in the desire of families. In this study, a comprehensive review has been conducted to examine the causes of this decrease in the desire to have children and the role of family spirituality on tendency to have children. Materials and methods: In this review article, by searching in domestic and international databases and using the keywords spirituality, family, childbearing, cultural conditions and economic conditions of society in Persian and English, 70 articles were found. After screening the titles and abstracts, 45 articles were identified according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Findings: The family has undergone structural, functional, and demographic changes, which is caused by the shift in the social system from an agricultural economy to an industrial economy, followed by the weakening of the extended family and the formation of the nuclear family. The modernization and expansion of urbanization and industrialization in Iran have expanded value changes, the importance of individualism and free choices, which has reduced people's desire to form families and have children. Studies indicate that families with strong spiritual roots have a greater desire to have children. Conclusion: By expanding easy marriage and reviving religious values in society will undoubtedly contribute significantly in increasing the population.},

title = {Pomegranate as a fruit mentioned in the Quran and its role in activating Paraoxonase-1},
abstract ={Background and aim: Pomegranate is a fruit with potential health benefits mentioned in the Quran and Islamic traditions. This study was conducted to investigate the effects of pomegranate on the activity of paraoxonase-1 (PON1) enzyme and its role in preventing cardiovascular diseases and other related metabolic disorders. Materials and methods: This review article was conducted by searching Pubmed, Magiran, Scopus, and Google Scholar databases using the keywords pomegranate, paraoxonase-1, antioxidants, and cardiovascular diseases. Islamic sources related to pomegranate were also reviewed. Findings: Pomegranate polyphenolic compounds, especially ellagic acid and punicalagin, reduce LDL oxidation and increase HDL function by increasing the expression and activity of the PON1 enzyme. Pomegranate juice consumption has been shown to increase PON1 activity by 20-80% in human and animal studies. The mechanism of action involves the stimulation of PON1 gene expression through the cAMP-PKA pathway and increased enzyme stability under oxidative stress conditions. Conclusion: The findings of this study show that pomegranate can play an important role in preventing cardiovascular disease by increasing PON1 enzyme activity. These results are in line with the recommendations of the Quran and Islamic traditions about pomegranate consumption.},

title = {The role of dates as a fruit mentioned in Quran in human health: From traditional medicine to modern medicine},
abstract ={Background and aim: The Holy Quran, in its emphasis on healthy nutrition, identifies dates as both a nutritionally valuable fruit (mentioned 20 times) and a divine blessing. The hadiths of the Infallibles (PBUH) further characterize dates as a "heavenly fruit," highlighting their therapeutic and preventive health benefits. The present study scientifically examines the therapeutic and preventive effects of dates on human health. Materials and methods: In this review article, 43 articles from electronic databases and search engines—including PubMed, Google Scholar, and SID—were analyzed. Findings: Dates contain valuable bioactive compounds, including essential fatty acids (oleic, myristic, and linoleic), B-group vitamins (B1, B2, B3), vitamins C and A, dietary fiber, and pectin. Studies have reported multiple therapeutic properties for these compounds, such as anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antitumor, antidiabetic, and cardioprotective effects. These properties position dates as a functional food with potential applications in disease prevention and adjunctive therapy. Conclusion: The verses of the Holy Quran, through their repeated references to dates, emphasize the importance of this heavenly fruit in nutrition and health. This special attention from Almighty God demonstrates divine grace toward the health of His servants. The harmony between divine guidance and scientific discoveries reveals God's supreme wisdom in creating this blessed fruit. Dates truly represent a treasure trove of health secrets, valued both in religious texts and modern science.},

title = {Association between spiritual intelligence and level of mental health literacy with stigma toward people with mental illness among Babol Medical students},
abstract ={Background and aim: Stigma in mental illnesses can be described as a set of negative attitudes and beliefs that cause fear, rejection, avoidance and discrimination against people. Stigma towards people with mental illness is influenced by many factors. Religious beliefs also have a significant impact on the beliefs and attitudes of people towards people with mental illness. Attitudes towards mental illness are also shaped by mental health literacy, that is, knowledge and beliefs about mental disorders that help recognize, manage or prevent them. Therefore, the present study was conducted to examine the association between spiritual intelligence, level of mental health literacy and the proportion of patients with mental illnesses among Babol medical students. Materials and methods: In this study, we investigated the relationship between personality traits, religious beliefs and the level of mental health literacy in Babol medical students. 262 medical students completed three questionnaires of attitudes towards mental illness, spiritual intelligence and mental health literacy in each of the four academic levels and the results were evaluated. The data were analyzed using SPSS 24. Findings: 262 students completed the study. 117 were men (44.7%) and 145 were women (55.3%). The mean age of the students was 22.89 ± 2.24 years. 18 students (6.9%) were married and 244 students (93.1%) were single. The results of the linear regression showed that among the two important variables of mental health literacy and spiritual intelligence, the variable of mental health literacy was related to the stigma of mental illness both in the univariate analysis and in the multivariate regression analysis (p-value<0.005). Therefore, the variable of mental health literacy is a strong independent predictor variable for the status of stigma regarding mental illness in students. Conclusion: By increasing mental health literacy, the attitude towards mental illnesses improves and the negative consequences of stigma towards mental illness can be prevented.},

title = {Hijab and chastity from the perspective of the Holy Quran and the importance of observing ethics and professional dress code among medical staff},
abstract ={Background and aim: One of the most important pillars of a religious society is adherence to hijab and chastity. This has been mentioned many times in the Holy Quran and the Hadith of the Infallibles. Compliance with ethics and professional dress code will make patients calm and increases professionalism in healthcare settings. The purpose of this review article is to examine the role of hijab and chastity from the perspective of the Holy Quran and the importance of observing ethics and professional dress code among medical staff. Materials and methods: The present study is a critical review based on library search and examination of verses of the Holy Quran and searching in Persian and English databases, including SID, Magiran, Iran Doc, Iran Medex, Google Scholar and PubMed using the keywords “hijab”, “chastity”, “ethics” and “professional dress code” without time frame. 72 documents were initially examined in this field and finally, 13 documents were evaluated. Findings: From the perspective of the Holy Quran, hijab is a barrier and an obstacle, but most jurists analyze hijab in terms of appearance, speech, and behavior and explain its beneficial effects in individual and social life. Moreover, chastity means self-preservation and restraining the human soul from taboos and sensual desires. Students and medical staff are required to observe ethics and professional dress code in most universities worldwide. Conclusion: According to the Holy Quran, hijab is not a physical restriction but a multidimensional tool for preserving individual dignity, enhancing mental well-being, and reinforcing social foundations. This concept aligns with professional ethical principles in healthcare settings. Therefore, integrating the religious concepts such as hijab and chastity with professional ethical standards can improve the quality of healthcare services and strengthen patient trust.},
