title = {The Role of Islamic Teachings in Guaranteeing the Convicts’ Right to Health; a Manifestation of Health-Oriented Criminal Policy},
abstract ={Background and aim: Due to the fact that all members of the society have the right to health, the convicts, whose human nature entitles them to have human rights, also have certain rights regardless of the crime they have committed. Therefore, the present study was conducted to examine the role of Islamic teachings in guaranteeing the convicts’ right to health as a manifestation of the health-oriented criminal policy in Iran. Materials and methods: This research is of theoretical type and is based on library resources and evidence-based resources of Magiran, PubMed, Noor Mags and Google Scholar, which was performed through extensive literature review, analysis, scientific studies and a guide to understanding the nature. Findings: According to the findings of the research, Iran's criminal justice system, while being effective in respecting the inherent dignity of human beings, has respected the health of convicts as a human right in line with the course of human evolution and excellence. Therefore, cases such as punishment in hot and cold conditions, punishment of sick convicts and pregnant women, the impossibility of treatment and hopelessness of the recovery of the sick convict, and observance of the health of the convicts has been thoroughly considered in Iran's criminal justice system. Conclusion: Long before the ratification of international human rights documents, including the convicts’ right to health, this has been considered in the teachings of Islam as a manifestation of health-oriented criminal policy. Therefore, the health-oriented criminal policy in Iran's legal system is also influenced by the teachings of Islam to ensure that convicts benefit from right to health in formal and substantive laws.},

abstract ={Background and aim: Pilgrimage gatherings, such as Arbaeen's foot-pilgrimage to visit the holy shrine of Imam Hussain, is one of the most recommended religious practices. Every year a large number of Shiites and those who miss him, both young and old, men and women, walk towards Karbala. They travel to visit the Holy Shrine on the day of Arbaeen. This pilgrimage, which involves a long and difficult journey, carries significant health risks due to factors such as high temperature, long distance and uncertainty about the safety of food and water. Materials and methods: The present review article was conducted to summarize the existing knowledge about infectious diseases associated with pilgrimage gatherings. A comprehensive search was conducted in PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar databases using relevant keywords. Original research articles, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and authoritative guidelines in English and Persian up to July 2024 were included in the study. Two researchers independently screened and evaluated the articles, and disagreements were resolved with the consultation of a third researcher. Findings: Notable infections discussed in this article include hepatitis A and E, food poisoning, traveler's diarrhea, cholera, influenza, and COVID-19. In this article, the importance of preventive measures such as hygiene, vaccination and health education to reduce the risk of infection is emphasized. By increasing health literacy among pilgrims and implementing appropriate health protocols, this holy journey will be safer and its spiritual benefits for the pilgrims will be increased. Conclusion: This article promotes a safer pilgrimage experience, and also emphasizes the need for more research and the development of health strategies suited to the unique conditions of pilgrimage gatherings.},

abstract ={Background and aim: Suicide is a significant mental health crisis that is increasing globally, especially in Iran. This complex phenomenon is influenced by various psychological, social, and economic factors. In this regard, spirituality is recognized as a protective and supportive factor against suicidal behaviors. Several studies suggest that increasing spiritual levels may be associated with a reduction in suicidal thoughts and behaviors. This study aims to examine the effect of spiritual interventions in reducing suicide risk and improving mental health in people at risk for suicide by analyzing published articles on this topic. Materials and methods: This research is a systematic review conducted using the PRISMA method and search in reputable databases like Google Scholar, ISC, and PubMed. abstract ={Background and aim: Medicine is one of the main aspects of science in the golden era of Islamic civilization, which has taken a special form using Islamic verses and traditions. Today, the world owes to the efforts of Muslim doctors. The activities of Muslim doctors throughout history have been influential in various aspects of medical science. Since the time of Prophet Muhammad and then during the period of Islamic caliphates and the intersection of Islamic civilization with the empires of that time such as Sassanids, Seljuks and Ottomans, medical science flourished in the heart of Islam. The purpose of this article is to explain the role of Muslim doctors in the development of medicine in the framework of Islamic law. In this regard, the historical course of the activities of Muslim doctors in different periods has been described. Materials and methods: In this article, a theoretical method with a descriptive analytical approach and using library resources, including articles and books, has been used. Findings: In Islam, law and health are closely related to each other, and maintaining and promoting health is one of the main goals of Islamic law. Paying attention to individual and community health and providing health and treatment services in a fair manner is emphasized in Islam. Conclusion: The process of medical development in Islam without paying attention to the matters stated in the Qur'an and Sunnah regarding health and medical science will be futile. In order to develop medicine in the framework of Islamic law, we should pay special attention to verses and traditions in the field of medicine.},

abstract ={Background and aim: Professional dress code can influence patients’ social perceptions and interpersonal professional interactions. This paper aims to determine the role of perceptual determinants in the professional appearance of healthcare providers on professional interactions with patients. Materials and methods: The present study was conducted as a critical review by searching libraries and databases using the keywords dress code, hijab, professional attire, and professional interaction and professionalism, taking into account the inclusion criteria. Finally, 18 relevant articles were reviewed. Findings: The results are presented in two general sections: the impact of dress code, tattoos, and piercings on professional interactions, and the Islamic and Quranic perspective and approaches regarding professional attire. Tattoos, piercings, and unconventional attire of healthcare providers negatively affect professional interactions with patients. In most Islamic and non-Islamic countries, patients have more trust in healthcare providers with simple white coats, including long coats for women and white coats for men, and they usually prefer individuals without tattoos and piercings to be responsible for their care. Conclusion: Considering the importance of professional attire in Islam and the Quran and its role in shaping patients’ trust and professional relationships, it is recommended that healthcare centers have special supervision over the attire of healthcare providers.},

title = {The role of spirituality and prayer in maintaining and improving the mental health of military forces},
abstract ={Background and aim: The successful performance of armed forces of countries is not only due to advanced technology and equipment. More than anything, it depends on their physical, mental and psychological health. A military job is one of the jobs that is difficult due to the type of tasks and missions, strict rules, the possibility of injury and disability, fear of defeat, being away from family, living in harsh conditions, captivity and even death, all of which may affect their mental health. Considering the importance of this topic, the role of spirituality and prayer in maintaining and improving the mental health of military forces has been discussed in the present study. Materials and methods: This review article was conducted by searching several online databases or search engines, including PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, and SID until the end of 2023; 136 relevant articles were eventually selected. Findings: Spirituality can bring about a sense of hope, purpose, peace, and improved organizational performance. In prayer, remembering God increases self-confidence, calms the nerves, and reduces stress and anxiety, even in very difficult military situations. Wudu (ablution), the use of perfume, strengthening the spirit of gratitude, improving physical health, increasing vitality and resilience, and eliminating the sense of inferiority of individuals with lower military ranks in front of superiors by attending congregational prayers are among the important functions of prayer in maintaining and promoting the mental health of military forces. Conclusion: Deepening spirituality and seeking help from prayer is one of the most important ways to maintain and improve the mental health of military forces. Therefore, it is essential for planners and officials to pay more attention and plan to carry out appropriate interventions to improve knowledge and attitudes and explain the psychological effects and functions of spirituality, and especially prayer, on mental health.},
