Background and aim: One of the most important social issues emphasized by divine scriptures, including the Qur'an, is maintaining ties of kinship. This has been downplayed in the society in the current era for some reasons. This research was conducted to investigate the role of this divine duty in the physical and mental health of family members with the aim of promoting the duty of "Silat Al-Rahim", which means maintaining ties of kinship.
Materials and methods: This research was conducted with a descriptive-analytical approach. Data collection to achieve the research objectives was done from the Holy Quran and authentic narrational texts related to the subject, using data collection forms and analyzing them qualitatively.
Findings: Based on the findings of this research, maintaining ties of kinship is one of the most important teachings of Islam in relationship with relatives. Bonding with relatives and being kind to them is one of the most important ways to grow and excel physically and spiritually in the family and getting closer to God Almighty. Among the most important worldly effects of maintaining ties of kinship, one can mention longer life, increase in sustenance, eradication of poverty, provision of physical health, peace of mind, overcoming depression, better management of worldly affairs. Among the afterlife effects, one can mention ease of reckoning and protection from sin. Also, severing ties of kinship leads to the curse of God and the person going to hell.
Conclusion: The results of this research show that maintaining ties of kinship is one of the most important ways of Islamic lifestyle and promoting this duty has many blessings and plays an important role in the physical and mental health of family members.

Background and aim: Human dignity is an important topic in the field of anthropology and has led to different approaches among different theological and humanitarian schools. In heavenly religions, especially the religion of Islam, and especially in the Holy Book of Muslims and the life of the Prophet and the infallible Imams, precious foundations of human dignity have been presented. The main goal of this research is to identify and explain the fundamental dimensions and components of "human dignity" through a systematic meta-synthesis study of previous studies.
Materials and methods: This research is based on a meta-synthesis approach and its statistical population includes all scientific articles published in Iran on the topic of human dignity between from 2011 to 2023. A total of 28 research articles available in the Scientific Information Database (SID), the National Database of Scientific Journals (Magiran), and Irandoc were found to be relevant to the topic. The kappa coefficient was 0.87, and after various reviews and refinements, 15 articles were selected for the final review.
Findings: The dimensions of human dignity include six dimensions: individual, social, acquired, inherent, religious, and organizational, each of which includes numerous components. These components affect each other in some cases.
Conclusion: Human dignity is considered the main foundation of a healthy individual and social life. This concept, with a six-dimensional model (inherent, acquired, individual, social, religious, and organizational), shows that understanding and enhancing human dignity requires a comprehensive and multifaceted approach. Each of these dimensions, not only independently, but also in connection and interaction with other dimensions, determines the complex and dynamic structure of dignity.

Background and aim: In today’s world, the decision to have children has become significantly more complex than in the past. This is no longer merely a personal or family-related decision, but one that is shaped by a wide range of economic, social, cultural, and technological factors. The aim of this study was to evaluate the attitudes of students at Shahrekord University of Medical Sciences toward childbearing and to identify the factors influencing these attitudes.
Materials and methods: This descriptive-analytical cross-sectional study was conducted with a sample size of 323 students from Shahrekord University of Medical Sciences. Participants were selected through stratified random sampling. Data were collected electronically using a demographic questionnaire and the standardized Rad and Tavabi Childbearing Motivation Questionnaire. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS version 22, employing both descriptive and analytical tests.
Findings: Among the participants, 1.5% exhibited a negative attitude, 11.1% had a low attitude, and 85.8% showed a moderate attitude toward childbearing. Only 1.5% demonstrated a high level of positive attitude. Statistical analysis revealed no significant correlation between students’ attitudes and variables such as gender, age, field of study, parents’ educational level, or economic status (p>0.05). The only significant influencing factor was being native to the province; the fertility attitude score of students native to the province was significantly higher than that of non-natives (p<0.01).
Conclusion: The majority of students expressed a positive attitude toward childbearing, indicating the necessity of creating supportive conditions in the current societal context.

Background and aim: The psychological challenges faced by women with breast cancer negatively impact their psychological functioning and increase distress, reducing their ability to cope with difficulties. This study aims to examine the effect of Islamic coping strategies on anxiety and life expectancy in women with breast cancer.
Materials and methods: This quasi-experimental study was conducted using a pretest-posttest design with a control group. The study population included all cancer patients who had visited or were hospitalized at the Cancer Research Center of Kerman University of Medical Sciences and Dr. Afzalipour Hospital in Kerman between September 2023 and October 2024 for continuous treatment. A total of 40 eligible volunteers were selected through random sampling and randomly assigned into experimental and control groups (20 participants in each group). All participants completed the Miller Hope Scale (Miller, 1988) and Spielberger Anxiety Inventory (Spielberger, 1983) in the pretest stage. The experimental group then received an intervention consisting of training in Islamic coping strategies over a one-month period (two sessions per week). Afterward, participants completed the questionnaires in the posttest stage, and data analysis was conducted using ANCOVA considering a significance level of α=0.05.
Findings: ANCOVA analysis showed that, after controlling for pretest effects, there was a significant difference between the groups in posttest scores for state anxiety (P=0.037), trait anxiety (P=0.032), and life expectancy (P=0.004, p<0.001). Islamic coping strategy training accounted for 11.2% of the changes in state anxiety, 11.9% in trait anxiety, and 20.6% in life expectancy. Therefore, Islamic coping strategies had a significant effect on life expectancy and anxiety in breast cancer patients.
Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that Islamic coping strategies, comprising psychological and spiritual techniques based on Islamic teachings, can effectively help cancer patients, especially women with breast cancer, reduce anxiety and enhance life expectancy. Moreover, these strategies contribute to patients' psychological adjustment, assisting them in better coping with their illness.

Background and aim: Surgery is an invasive intervention with a high risk of complications, especially in the elderly, and this highlights the importance of decision-making and providing adequate information to the patient. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the ethical and legal aspects of consent to surgery in elderly patients.
Materials and methods: This is a descriptive cross-sectional study which was conducted on 100 patients over 65 years of age who referred to Poursina and Razi hospitals of Guilan University of Medical Sciences in the form of a census in 2023. The data for this study were extracted from the patient records, which included age, gender, type of surgery, person signing the consent form, level of education of the person giving consent, and surgical risk based on the records of admitted patients. In this study, the collected data was entered into SPSS version 26.
Findings: In this study, the mean age of the patients was 74.57 ± 11.32 years, and the frequency of males and females was 50 (50%). In terms of the type of surgery, 83% of the studied cases had non-emergency surgery. The highest frequency regarding the person signing the consent form was related to the category of patient and companion consent (65%). The highest frequency in education category was related to university education (42%). The highest frequency of surgical risk was related to high-risk surgery (46%). 50% of the participants had an average understanding of the patient consent form.
Conclusion: The results of this study showed that the understanding of elderly patients regarding the terms of the consent form varied; half of the participants had an average understanding, and approximately 45% had a good understanding. This suggests that the consent process for elderly patients requires more attention to ensure that all patients have a sufficient understanding of the provided information.

Background and aim: In the holy religion of Islam, the essence of a human being is the soul or spirit, and the body is its instrument. The more a person controls his/her body and applies religious laws to it, the closer he/she becomes to a "perfect human being". The aim of this study was to evaluate the physical and mental health and its relationship with the concept of healing and the associated factors from the perspective of Nahj al-Balagha.
Materials and methods: This research was conducted with a descriptive-analytical approach. Data collection was done by carefully examining the book Nahj al-Balagha and extracting words and phrases related to the meaning of healing, physical and mental health and the factors affecting them. A comprehensive review of Persian and English articles in international databases was also performed.
Findings: The findings showed that the word "healing" is used more than 9 times in Nahj al-Balagha, most of which refer to the healing of the soul and heart, and in a few cases, physical healing is also addressed. Factors such as the Qur'an, piety, proper nutrition, Islam, wise words, charity, prayer, and fasting are introduced as healing factors.
Conclusion: The main goal of the Infallible Imams is the same as the goal of religion and the Holy Qur'an, namely, guiding people towards God. In this regard, they have acquainted people with various aspects of health, sometimes at their request and sometimes through health, nutritional, and well-being recommendations. Adhering to the guidelines of Imam Ali in the unique book Nahj al-Balagha can lead to physical and mental health, which is necessary for achieving human perfection.

Background and aim: Osteoarthritis is a common joint disease in humans that can lead to disability. Its main symptoms are pain and joint inflammation. Research has shown that maintaining spiritual health can help manage the disease and relieve pain. The present study was conducted to investigate the effect of spiritual health on pain management in patients with osteoarthritis in Abadan and Khorramshahr, southwestern Iran.
Materials and methods: The present study is a qualitative content analysis of 15 patients with osteoarthritis who were referred to the clinics of Ayatollah Taleghani Teaching Hospital and Shahid Beheshti Teaching Hospital in Abadan, and Valiasr Teaching Hospital in Khorramshahr, southwestern Iran, in 2023. The participants were selected through purposeful sampling. The sample size was determined based on the criteria of information saturation. The study utilized semi-structured interviews as its research method. The data were analyzed using a systematic classification and coding process based on the Graneheim method.
Findings: Fifteen patients with osteoarthritis were studied, 11 of whom were female and 4 were male. Their mean age was 47±4.5 years. Data analysis yielded 68 codes. The obtained codes were categorized into 15 subcategories, which were subsequently merged into three categories: faith and trust in God (comprising 8 subcategories and 38 codes), divine providence (comprising 4 subcategories and 13 codes), and the effect of prayer (comprising 3 subcategories and 17 codes).
Conclusion: The results of this study showed that a close and strong relationship with God relieves physical and mental pains, increases tolerance and adaptability to problems, hope, acceptance of divine providence, peace, and satisfaction, positive energy, increased motivation, reduction of stress and anxiety, and reduction of nosophobia. As a result, spiritual health is effective in pain management in osteoarthritis patients. The current research can be the basis for paying more attention to therapeutic interventions with a spiritual health approach for patients.
