Abstract
Background and aim: Medicine is one of the main aspects of science in the golden era of Islamic civilization, which has taken a special form using Islamic verses and traditions. Today, the world owes to the efforts of Muslim doctors. The activities of Muslim doctors throughout history have been influential in various aspects of medical science. Since the time of Prophet Muhammad and then during the period of Islamic caliphates and the intersection of Islamic civilization with the empires of that time such as Sassanids, Seljuks and Ottomans, medical science flourished in the heart of Islam. The purpose of this article is to explain the role of Muslim doctors in the development of medicine in the framework of Islamic law. In this regard, the historical course of the activities of Muslim doctors in different periods has been described.
Materials and methods: In this article, a theoretical method with a descriptive analytical approach and using library resources, including articles and books, has been used.
Findings: In Islam, law and health are closely related to each other, and maintaining and promoting health is one of the main goals of Islamic law. Paying attention to individual and community health and providing health and treatment services in a fair manner is emphasized in Islam.
Conclusion: The process of medical development in Islam without paying attention to the matters stated in the Qur'an and Sunnah regarding health and medical science will be futile. In order to develop medicine in the framework of Islamic law, we should pay special attention to verses and traditions in the field of medicine.
