Hijab and Chastity and their Role in Psychological Security

Background and aim: According to Islamic standards, hijab and chastity are one of the most important religious pillars, which have been mentioned several times in the Holy Qur'an and have also been mentioned many times in the Hadith of the Innocents. The study of historical sources has shown that the issue of hijab is not new and that women have chosen a veil for themselves in the past. The hijab is not chosen for restriction, but for the spiritual-psychological and social security of man. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of hijab and chastity in the spiritual security of men and women.
Materials and methods: In the present review study, 24 articles from electronic databases or search engines such as PubMed, Google Scholar, and SID were reviewed.
Findings: The results of the current study indicated that wearing the hijab creates a sense of security around them while dealing with refinement and self-cultivation, and on the other hand, paves the way for more presence in the community by increasing social security. Keeping hijab for both men and women develops the personality, makes the individual valuable, and creates spiritual-psychological security, perfectionism, and ultimately the strength of the family.
Conclusion: Considering the effect of hijab on interpersonal relations, it is obligatory for men and women to observe and maintain hijab and chastity to increase the level of spiritual-psychological security, social security, and strengthening of family foundations. |
