Background and aim: Religious beliefs give meaning to human life and work and have inner values for the individual. Therefore, this study was conducted with the aim of evaluating the effect of religious teachings on the performance of the medical staff working in the COVID-19 wards of Imam Khomeini, Golestan and Razi hospitals in Ahvaz in 2023. Materials and methods: After obtaining the necessary approvals from Research Council and Research Ethics Committee, this descriptive-analytical study was conducted on the community of nurses and nursing assistants working in the COVID-19 wards of Imam Khomeini, Golestan and Razi Hospital in Ahvaz in 2023. Data were collected using the standard spiritual questionnaire (Parsian and Dunning, 2009) and included demographic information and the main variables of the study. The reliability of this test (Cronbach's alpha) was 0.84, 0.90, 0.77, and 0.82 for the factors of self-awareness, importance of spiritual beliefs, spiritual activities, and spiritual needs, respectively, and 0.90 for the entire test. Findings: According to the results, 59.3 percent of the participants were male. In terms of marital status, 61.9% were married, and most participants had bachelor's degree (65.5%). In terms of employment status, most of the participants were official employee (51.3) and most of the participants worked in the emergency department (38.1%). The overall mean level of spirituality was 82.89 out of 116, and the evaluation of the effect of religious teachings on the performance of the medical staff working in COVID-19 wards showed that the level of spirituality was high in 49.6% of participants. Conclusion: The results of the present study showed that the investigation of the influence of religious teachings on the performance of the medical staff working in COVID-19 wards showed that the influence of religious teachings was high and spirituality scores were higher in older people, women, and married people.
