Studying childbearing attitude among interns and residents of Babol University of Medical Sciences in the academic year of 2018-2019

Introduction: Childbearing is one of the important components of population knowledge, and medical students due to the long period of study and unfavorable economic conditions during their studies need a more detailed study of fertility and childbearing. The aim of this study was to investigate the attitudes of interns and residents of Babol University of Medical Sciences in the academic year of 2018-2019 regarding the issue of childbearing in economic, cultural-social, religious and physical identity areas.
Methods: This descriptive-analytical study was randomly conducted on students of specialized and medical internship courses of Babol University of Medical Sciences in 2018-2019, and Mousavi's childbearing attitude questionnaire containing 64 questions was used. Based on previous studies, the sample size was 140 persons. The data were analyzed using ANOVA, T-test and Tukey Test.
Findings: In the study of childbearing variables, 79.9 and 20.1% of students had a positive and negative attitude towards childbearing, respectively. The belief index was significantly higher in men (35.37±10.90) than women (29.11±10.50) (P=0.001). In the study of childbearing variables based on marriage, according to the result of the independent t-test, the economic index was significantly higher in single (30.59 ±47.5) than married (26.10 ±6.48) students, (P<0.001), Belief index was significantly higher in married (38.12± 9.57) than single 28.59± 10.30 students (P<0.001).
Conclusion: The current study has shown that the belief factor can increase the tendency to childbearing encountering economic pressures.
